MARTORANO - 9 DAY ROME AND SURROUNDINGS


Day 1 Wednesday Oct. 20 Depart Philadelphia on US Air for overnight flight to Rome

Day 2 Thursday Oct. 21 Arrival into Rome where you are met, assisted and taken to your private coach for the drive north to Cascia, home of St. Rita Check into your hotel. Balance of day free to relax before dinner and overnight.(B, D)

Day 3 Friday Oct. 22 After breakfast we visit the Basilica for mass and to view the incorrupt body of St Rita. We will also see the Eucharistic Miracle there. After lunch we travel to Montefalco. Here we visit the incorrupt body and heart with the instruments of the wounds of the Passion, of St. Clare of Montefalco, Augustinian Nun. Return to Cascia for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 4 Saturday Oct. 23  We depart Cascia for Tolentino. Here we visit the Sanctuary of St. Nicholas.  Continue on to Assis, where we first stop to see the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels. We then begin a walking tour visiting the Basilica of St Francis, and the Church of St. Clare. We have dinner and overnight tonight in Assisi.  (B, D)

Day 5 Sunday Oct. 24  Depart Assisi for Orvieto (see the Eucharistic Miracle). Have lunch in Orvieto (included) before we continue to the town of Montefiascone, the Mother House of the Maestra Filippini and the incorrupt body of St. Lucy Filippini, foundress of the Order of Nuns that teach at our school. Late afternoon arrival into Rome for dinner at hotel and overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Monday Oct. 25  Morning sightseeing tour of classical Rome to include the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Appian Way. Return to hotel for some free time before late afternoon excursion to Frascati for wine tasting and dinner.  Return to Rome for overnight.  (B, D)

Day 7 Tuesday Oct. 26  Travel outside of Rome for a full day of sightseeing first stopping in Monte Cassino to visit its beautiful Abbey.  Continue on to Nettuno, an important center of pilgrimage to the Shrine of Saint Maria Goretti.  Our next stop is Ostia Antica, a large archeological site that was once the harbor of Ancient Rome.  Return to Rome.  Dinner at local restaurant .  Overnight (B,D) 

Day 8  Wednesday Oct. 27  Morning transfer to the Vatican for Papal Audience (if available). Afternoon visit major Basilicas St John Lateran, St Mary Major and St Paul Outside the Walls. Festive farewell dinner this evening. (B,D)

Day 9 Thursday Oct. 28  Morning transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA.  (B)

 

Note regarding meals: Glass of wine, coffee/tea  included at each dinner and at lunch in Orvieto.
